The Galena Park Emergency Management Coordinator and Harris County Emergency Management, in conjunction with GPPD and GPFD is providing free Community Emergency Response Team training Wed. evenings from 6:00 – 9:00. now through December 16 at the Alvin D. Baggett Recreation Center at 1302 Keene St. in the Meeting Room.
We will not meet the week of Thanksgiving.
Our first class was a success! Come join us Wed., Oct 28 and learn about:
- Fire Safety
- Fire Chemistry
- Fire and Utility Hazards
- Fire Sizeup Considerations
- Firefighting Resources
- Fire Suppression Safety
- Hazardous Materials
- And have a hands-on lesson in suppressing small fires.
All training materials are provided in English and Spanish.
Participants should wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing and durable footwear to each class (e.g. no open-toe shoes or sandals).
Some modules (e.g. Fire Suppression/Safety and Disaster Simulation) involve an outdoor practical exercise so we request everyone please dress accordingly for the weather.
Team members will receive a CERT backpack* equipped similarly to the one pictured:
